Independent Environmental Audit of the Sugar Industry in Queensland, New South Wales & Western Australia 2004 (C4ES Audit)

The Independent Audit of the Sugar Industry commissioned by the Australian Government and conducted by C4ES
showed that cane growers are being increasingly environmentally responsible.

The environmental audit was released by the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, the Hon Warren Truss MP, in August 2004 and is available on the DAFF website:


Review of Constraints on Industry Competitiveness & Innovation 2003 (Boston Report)

The Boston Report found that deregulation was unlikely to be the answer to securing the future of sugar in Australia.

Independent Assessment of the Sugar Industry 2002 (Hildebrand Report)

This independent assessment authored by Clive Hildebrand indicated that future of the Australian sugar industry was under threat and the radical change was needed at all levels including farm practices

The assessment, conducted by then Chairman of the Sugar Research and Development Corporation, was released by Minister Truss in June 2002 and is available on the DAFF website.
