About the project
The development of a Strategy for Women and Teams was a research project, which included the holding of ten focus groups, nine meetings with staff and management of CANEGROWERS, a three-day workshop (Brisbane - 28 to 31 May) and a meeting with the CANEGROWERS Board. Existing women’s and young growers groups were also had the opportunity to have input into the research.
The research was funded by SRDC with in-kind assistance and sponsorship from CANEGROWERS.
The project's objectives were:
Seek to increase participation of women as active members, and in leadership roles within the CANEGROWERS organisation by:
-
Building leadership capacity within the organisation;
-
Working in partnership with CANEGROWERS to support and encourage the involvement of women in all related education, training and developmental programs for example BSES and Future Cane;
-
Building closer links between women’s organisations and CANEGROWERS.
The research project focuses on the four regions where "Women's Groups" currently exist. A copy of the summary and recommendations of the report are available by clicking on the link above.
