CANEGROWERS says changes to QSL vital in keeping sugar marketing strongarm
16 November 2010: CANEGROWERS says changes to QSL vital in keeping sugar marketing strongarm
CANEGROWERS says that constitutional amendments to Queensland Sugar Limited’s Constitution made today during QSL’s AGM will help keep the sugar marketing group strong for its industry stakeholders.
“The changes really underpin the structure and transparency of QSL and its ability to continue to be a strong marketer of Australian sugar, said CANEGROWERS CEO, Steve Greenwood today.
“The changes that have been made strengthen the ability of QSL to act in the interests of those millers and growers that have a commitment to continuing use of its structure.
“We have a vested interest in ensuring that the growers and millers who stay with and continue to utilise QSL as a marketing agent, retain control over the body representing them on the world sugar stage, onto which over 90% of Australian sugar is sold.
“QSL is a critical link in the sugar industry value chain. As the world market becomes increasingly competitive, the ability to achieve scale by grouping large tonnages of quality Australian sugar under the QSL export-desk, enables Australian growers and millers greater strength on the international market, and supports the vital forward pricing platform.
