Sugarcane growers have the opportunity to attend action-packed local meetings featuring some the biggest issues in sugarcane, at a location near them next week.Some of the headline items to be tackled include the forthcoming overhaul of the Australian sugarcane industry’s R&D sector and international experts from London giving an easy to understand grass-roots run-down on what growers need to know about forward pricing.
The tour kicks off in Bundaberg on Monday 11 October and concludes in Cairns on Friday 15 October.The jam-packed agenda addresses many of the serious issues facing sugarcane growers and the cane industry, including:
BSES and the issue of research funding will be an important part of the agenda, with discussions on how the current crisis in funding BSES can be resolved.Moreover there will be discussion over a plan to overhaul RD&E for Australia’s sugarcane industry, to keep us at the cutting edge of sugarcane production as per our current worldwide reputation.
International pricing and marketing giant, Czarnikow, is flying out directors out from London and Singapore to talk about the dynamics of the market for sugar, and particularly growers’ involvement with futures trading.In May this year CANEGROWERS launched the Market Information Service providing members free access to a comprehensive review put together by Czarnikow, to assist growers to understand the market.
Queensland Sugar Limited will talk about pricing product offerings for 2011 and beyond. They are also sponsoring the meetings.
Reef Regulation and environmental issues will be discussed and attendees will have an opportunity to hear the latest on these issues as they relate to their local area.
Ravensdown Fertiliser Australia’s latest offer and ongoing partnership is also on the agenda.
