Code of practice
A Code of Practice for Sustainable Cane Growing in Queensland was developed by CANEGROWERS in partnership with the sugarcane industry and the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency as a result of an audit of the sugar industry in 1996 which revealed the need for a greater access to information on how to improve productivity, profitability and environment.

The Code of Practice has been worked into a grower friendly self-assessment handbook called COMPASS (Combining Profitability and Sustainability in Sugar).
