From the Chair
From the Chair
CANEGROWERS’ centenary year offered much to celebrate, but it also brought stark reminders of the pressures facing Queensland’s cane-growing families.
From a fuel crisis that threatened the harvest to disappointing trade outcomes and the end of cane production in Mossman, growers faced significant challenges – even as growing momentum behind biofuels and sustainable sugar offered new opportunities for the industry’s next century.

CEO Report
A century of achievement is worth celebrating, but it won't secure the sugarcane industry's next hundred years.
The 2025–26 year reinforced why profitability, productivity and scale must be at the heart of our thinking. Rising costs, fuel supply disruptions and uneven harvesting and milling performance continue to put pressure on growers – reminding us that CANEGROWERS must measure its success not by how much we do, but by the difference we make to cane-growing businesses.
