CANEGROWERS has congratulated Queensland farmer Hamish McIntyre on his election as President of the National Farmers’ Federation (NFF).
Mr McIntyre, who operates mixed farming, cattle, and poultry enterprises across southern Queensland, was elected as the NFF’s 15th President this week, succeeding Victorian farmer David “DJ” Jochinke.
CANEGROWERS Chairman Owen Menkens said Mr McIntyre’s appointment was a positive outcome for Queensland agriculture and for farmers across Australia.
“On behalf of Queensland’s sugarcane industry, I’d like to congratulate Hamish on his election and look forward to working with him to ensure our growers - and all Australian farmers - have a strong, united voice in national policy discussions,” Mr Menkens said.
“Hamish brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing regional industries. His leadership will be important as agriculture continues to navigate complex issues such as trade, energy, sustainability and workforce.”
Mr Menkens also thanked outgoing NFF President David “DJ” Jochinke for his dedicated service and strong leadership of Australian agriculture.
“DJ has been a passionate advocate for farmers and has worked hard to strengthen collaboration across the sector. We thank him for his contribution and wish him well for the future,” Mr Menkens said.
