For more than 100 years, cane growers have shaped Queensland’s regions, communities and economy. But behind every harvest, every paddock and every mill area are the people who lived it.
Voices of Cane Country is a video history project capturing the stories, memories and experiences of cane growers and those connected to the industry – in their own words.
Created as part of CANEGROWERS’ centenary, this series records the moments that don’t always make it into official histories: the challenges, the changes, the pride, and the reasons cane growing has endured for generations.
Each installment adds another voice to that story. Together, they form a living record of cane country – past, present and future.
