Sweetest Schools

CANEGROWERS' Sweetest Schools competition is ramping up across many cane-growing districts around the state.

Schools are planting and growing their own plots of cane – with a little help and guidance from local growers – in competition to be crowned their region’s “Sweetest School”.

And from all reports, the competition is becoming just as fierce among the growers as it is among the students.

It’s a fun, hands-on way to introduce children from non-farming backgrounds to agriculture, growing crops and life on the land.

Like our curriculum-aligned school resources, George the Farmer collaboration, and Rural Discovery stand - the Sweetest Schools competition is part of CANEGROWERS’ broader push to build greater awareness, understanding and appreciation of the industry within the wider community, while also encouraging young people to consider the diverse career opportunities that exist right across the sugarcane supply chain.
